VOCs
Volatile Organic Chemicals are gases and chemicals that release organic (carbon)
compounds when you are using them and to some degree, when they are stored.
They are the main source of indoor air pollution and found in household products
such as paints, varnishes, degreasers, cleaning products and some craft/hobby
products. Reported immediate symptoms to VOCs are eye & respiratory tract
irritation, headaches, dizziness, visual disorders, and memory impairment. At
present, research is being carried out into the adverse health effects of VOCs
and it is already known that many organic compounds cause cancer in animals
and in humans. These products should always be used in well ventilated areas
where there is plenty of fresh air.
