Parabens
A synthetic chemical used in the cosmetic industry as a preservative and an
anti-bacterial agent. It is commonly found in perfume, deodorants, soaps, shampoos,
body cream, face cream and toothpaste. They have been linked to breast cancer
after in-tact parabens were found breast tumours. They have also been shown
to mimic the actions of the female hormone oestrogen which can drive the growth
of tumours in the breast. Commonly found as methylparaben, butylparaben, ethylparaben
and propylparaben.
